The Hare at Blean

Can’t recommend enough. We arrived out of service hours yet they went out of their way to accommodate us. Running to catch us at our car to tell us they can stay open for us. Best fish and chips I have had in a long time. Pizza and dough balls were unique and scrumptious. All staff were so sweet and obliging. There was even a bouncy castle in the garden. Beautiful view of the sunset while we ate. We will definitely be back when in the area again.

Had Sunday lunch here for a family birthday. We had the sharing platters between 7 of us. We’re big eaters, but has to succumb to a box for leftovers as there was just so much food! It was absolutely delicious, every part of it. The staff are fantastic, so friendly, welcoming and had a good laugh with us. The service was quick, but not overbearing. There’s nothing I could fault. I will certainly be back. Thank you all x

Sharing tray for 3!! Incredible we have already booked to return in a couple of weeks. Best roast we have had in a long while. Staff were all so lovely, warm and welcoming making us all feel at home even our little dog Bruce was made to feel very welcome. Lovely touch head chef coming out to engage with customers. 10/10!! Managed to squeeze a couple days annual leave past the powers that be & get away for a couple nights, staying just 5mins away at ‘Daweswood Cottage’ the most lovely of Air BnB’s, complete with hot tub and hammock! Anyway, hungry & in the market for somewhere to eat I stumbled on ‘The Hare’ somewhat by accident & what a result that was! Turned up mid service in the evening, not having booked, to a warm welcome by bar staff having got space in the car park and more importantly they managed to get me a table in the restaurant. Looked at the menu, & spoilt for choice, decided on their BBQ burger with pulled pork cheese and coleslaw - what a burger! Genuinely quite possibly the best burger I’ve had, & I’ve had some burgers! So good in fact, I went back the second night to try their pizza which was also fantastic. The chef & co-owner Matthew clearly genuinely cares & came out half way through to check all was good with the food, something you never get anymore! Got talking to him the second night & what a genuinely nice chap, well traveled - hence the themes - and has been in the trade for decades showing through in how good the food is! Doug.

Possibly the best roast I've ever had, and I am a fussy b. Everything was done to perfection, the staff were really accomodating and on the ball, and it was very reasonably priced. I loved that there was a small version on the menu as I so often don't finish a massive roast, or stuff myself and feel ill! The small version is perfect if you don't have a massive appetite, or want to save room for sides and desserts. Whoever the chef is, never let them leave! There is plenty of parking, and the beer garden is also really nice, surrounded by trees, plenty of both sunny and shady spots available. They don't serve food outside but we sat out there and ordered from there and they just called us in when the food was ready. TLDR: LUSH, thank you, very glad we came today and will be back!

I'd heard a lot about how good the Sunday roasts are so I was excited to try. Can't say enough how good the quality was. One of our party thought she'd ordered the veggie wellington with her roast (her mistake) and the staff went out of their way to bring it to her. It was a lovely touch of real care. Wine menu looks good, beer menu is solid if unspectacular, the piano at lunchtime was a really nice touch. In short, a must visit.

Cant recommend this place enough!!!! Sunday roasts are out of this world!!!! Enough meat to feed a king and spuds that cant be beaten. To add this place is run by a very lovely family who are extremely welcoming and grateful for your custom
